How much does it cost to study in UK?
Tuition fee varies, depending on the courses. The tuition fees in United kingdom approximately ranges from
Rs. 8,00,000 to Rs. 20,00,000 for an undergraduate program for a year. For a master’s program the tuition
fees range is approximately between Rs. 9,00,000 to Rs. 24,00,000 per year depending upon the university
and the course. The living cost per year is approximately between Rs 8,00,000 to Rs 12,00,000
Scholarships
Indian students can apply for merit scholarships with some Universities. These scholarships are
offered by the Universities directly. Also, some Universities practice giving scholarship
awards to students based on the academic performance during their course of study in the University.
There are certain research programs that provide scholarships up to 100%. To qualify for these
programs, students should have achieved a certain level of academic performance. Other sources
through which scholarships are given are by the British Government.
Visa
The student must apply 2 months in advance for the visa. Students wishing to Study
in UK will get Tier 4 (general) student visa. The visa process has been
simplified by introducing the UK Points Based System (PBS) where one must
achieve 40 points to get a student visa. Normal length of visa is full length
of course plus 1 to 4 months extra depending on the program.
Work opportunities
A student can work for 20 hours a week during the course or full-time during
vacations. Students can expect to earn approximately around £6 to £8 per hour
which is approximately £480 to £640 per month during course study.
